It's going to be quiet around these parts for a few days. Today is the day I finally leave The Island.
Because that's what it is. I've not only never been overseas, I've never even been to the South Island. Before today the closest I got to 'overseas' was in my grandfather's fishing boat - when I was literally over the sea.
So even though saying it makes me feel like a cast member from Lost, I am leaving The Island today. It's not a big deal really - Australia is practically a domestic flight - but it's the first time I've left home in 29 years, so it's a big day for me.
I'll be putting up some post-dated entries when I get back, but for now I am signing off. E noho ra.
