30 Days of Me - Day 10

Songs I listen to when I am sad, mad, bored, happy and hyped

God this is a difficult one. Not because I listen to so much music that it's hard to choose just one, but because for the most part, I don't listen to songs in relation to my mood.

Still, some come to my mind quickly.

This might be the easiest one. For as long as I've been aware of their existence, my sad songs have always been by Portishead. Anything from their self-titled CD, Dummy or Live NYC. I might be the only person in the world who gets cheered up listening to Portishead. Incidentally, I would kill to see them live, they're one of my all-time favourite acts.

Anything with a lot of swearing. Usually rap. One of my favourites is 'Fuck the World' by the Insane Clown Posse (as embarrassing as that is). Also Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill album.

This seems like a bit of a trick. If I'm bored I tend to look for new music. I'll head to YouTube or HypeM. There's no particular song, album or band for bored. Bored is where I find my new favourites.

My happy songs are usually fun. I like the album Standing in the Rain by Opensouls (particularly because of it's laid-back Summer feel), Tommy Ill, Gossip and Florence and the Machine.

I think the best hyper music would be Girl Talk - particularly the Feed the Animals album. It's so fast-paced and changes direction so often that it's perfect for a hyper mood.

OK, so maybe not so hard, but still quite impossible to narrow it down to particular songs!
