It's amazing how much more I noticed second time around, having read all the books back to back.
But the most significant thing, to me, is this.
Harry destroyed the diary
Dumbledore destroyed the ring
Ron destroyed the locket
Hermione destroyed the cup
Hogwarts itself destroyed the diadem - via Crabbe or Goyle's (I forget which and can't be bothered to look it up) cursed fire - which had been fanned by years of lost, hidden, broken and stolen goods from within the castle.
Voldemort destroyed the piece of his soul in Harry
Neville destroyed the snake
Nobody really destroyed Voldemort. He was destroyed mainly via ancient magic, wand lore, a prophecy, and a disarming spell - arguably a 'weak' spell (but of course, 7 parts of his soul had been destroyed already, the last part wouldn't have been too hard really).
No person was actually responsible for destroying more than one part of Voldemort's soul - unless you count Voldemort's final killing curse rebounding on himself, in which case Voldemort killed two parts of his own soul.
Also, I think while we were waiting in line for Order of the Phoenix, or else while waiting for Chamber of Secrets film to come out, Holly told me she'd read that Chamber of Secrets was supposed to be very important to the last book. I think anyone who's read the entire series will agree that Chamber of Secrets is probably the weakest of the lot, but it really is important - so many of the foundations for the rest of the series (and particularly the final book) are laid there. Obviously I spotted that the first time, but it's amazing how much more I picked up on the second time. Given that I actually had forgotten the majority of the plot, I didn't tend to pick up on most of it until I was reading Deathly Hallows. I certainly didn't read Half Blood Prince and think "ooh! That's the diadem!" but when I heard about the diadem in book 7, I instantly made the connection.
Reading them all together - so awesome.
I still think Neville is awesome and I still want to know what happens to Luna.
Also, I didn't think about Dumbledore being gay at all until the whole Grindlewald thing came up.
I cannot wait for Beedle the Bard!!
